Does choosing Fixed Stat Growth give the same bonuses as a Band would (assuming you gave it to it's respective unit)?

I could be wrong, but I think it fixed mode changes the characters' respective growths to their respective class growths.

I thought it gave them growths perfectly proportionate to their average, which made knowing when to BEXP them extremely easy, and made things easy to cap.

Or that. It could be that too.

I'm not completely sure, but that's just what it sounded like to me on first impression when I saw the option myself, and I've thought of it that way ever since.

Fixed growths work similarly to EVs if I understand correctly, contributing "points" to growths rates depending on the circumstances of a character's experience growth. There's a pretty good chance I actually misunderstood entirely, though >.>

There seems to be no easy way around that formula... is there an easier explanation like "Weaker weapons = Good, Stronger Enemies = Good"?

I have no idea. SF is the only place I've ever actually seen anyone explain it. Not that I was looking, the only thing Fixed Mode has ever done for me is make Marcia cap all over the place entirely on accident.

Any other characters do well?

Not that I can remember. Seemed pretty average, actually.

I do mostly on use irons and base spells, though, so if weaker weapons do get more "points" there's a pretty good chance they were all pretty beastly. Marcia stood out, though, since I can remember her years later specifically having capped almost all of her stats.

I wonder how grinding influences it.

Well now I'm even more confused ^^'
I think I am misunderstanding how bands work. Their descriptions say that they increase stat growth in whatever area, but my original interpretation was that they would redirect stats from other areas to do so. My new assumption is that they simply increase stat growth without taking away from other areas but honestly idk ^^'

Bands slightly increase the growths of the stats that they're programmed to raise. I think the difference is only 5% on most of them, but the Mage Band increases magic growth rate by 10%. I think there's another one that increases by 10% too, but I can't be fucked to find the list. It's on Serenes Forest somewhere in the Path of Radiance section.

I'm fairly sure that all the bands increase two stats by 5%, except for the mage band.

Is it just the mage band? Color me incorrect. I've only ever beaten that game once, I didn't really care for it >.>

It's the only one I'm aware of.
