If you haven't heard, a quick summary of the story thus far:

Sony has filed a lawsuit against the hackers who figured out how to bypass the PS3's security keys and then posted the keys online for the public to see and use. The keys allow users to run software that has not been approved by Sony such as custom firmware, homebrew programs and pirated games. Sony Computer Entertainment America has called out George Hotz, the original iPhone hacker, and the hacking group who made the discovery, fail0verflow, in the lawsuit. George Hotz recently appeared in court with his attorney to file a response.

After that, the internet group Anonymous declared war on Sony.

Spoiler

In early April, about the 4th or 5th, PSN was downed due to Anon.

Now PSN is down currently, and while some suspect Anon, they have denied it on their home page. BUT... on their FB page, a post claimed responsibility.

So, with all this going on, what are the Empire's thoughts on this situation?

They haven't achieved anything, aside from pissing off consumers. The Sony Store boycott they organised last week failed big time when no one actually turned up. They're all wasting their time.

Sony are claiming that the current PSN problem is due to an issue in Japan, btw. I doubt they'd lie about that.

idiot. attacking something that people who are fully innocent use for joy is a form of terrorism, in its most retarded form. Simply put, if you used PSN, you wouldn't be laughing. This trait is what I hate most about people, and is the cause of most of the worlds problems.

its like protesting against Less Than Jake

I don't think that that photo was from the actual boycott itself.

In a nutshell.

Quite frankly its a little scary knowing that all of my information is most likely compromised and I can't do jack shit. My debit card number was saved in there and whatnot, so all I can really do is keep checking bank statements and pray for the best.

Sony's reaction to this whole thing has been total shit and its infuriating.

Uh... call the bank, tell them to close your current card and send you a new one. Not so hard.

There's still an issue of someone else potentially spending his money. And if someone had their credit card on there rather than debit, they could be fucking up their credit. If you catch that shit too late, it's a terrible drawn out process that could last years, not to mention that your credit score would be in shambles for quite a while and usually doesn't recover from something like that without filing Chapter 13.

And that's why I own an Xbox360, because Microsoft's security is air-tight.
Wait.

Should clear up a few points. All of these "reports" of people who have had money stolen are probably just coincidences (credit card fraud happens to thousands every day...), or completely fake. There's a story going around that 2.2 million cards are up for sale on various underground forums, but that has been proven to be complete bullshit. Just like all of the "omg my gmail was hacxxed!!!!" reports that turned up immediately after the original breach was announced.
