Anyway. Hackingwise, not much is being changed beside the characters and story, though the difficulty may be slightly a bit more amped than usual.
Setting: On a southern island, there lies a great structure - a vast citadel of learning and knowledge known as the Institute. It is here that arcane, dark, and light magic is studied and developed by the faculty and students - it doubles as an educational academy and a research and development center. Its students are brilliant - only the top minds and children of nobility are allowed within its walls. The entire building is carefully safeguarded by its own elite platoon of mercenary soldiers, protecting the Institute from bandits, thieves, and even occasionally rival scholars. The Institute is viewed as a paragon, an intellectual haven, by all those who view it, and it prospers under the hand of its genius administrator, Lord Goethe. Until...
A young scholar named Toku, working at one of the Institute's many distant research outposts, comes across some mysterious documents... upon closer examination, the papers record an incriminating truth: For years, the Institute has been kidnapping villagers and wanderers for use in brutal magical experimentation, exposing them to dangerous arcane magic which often results in their death... Panicked, Toku decides to flee with the evidence, but escaping the watch of the Institute is not so easy. After badly wounding Pavel, a guardsman, in self-defense, Toku attempts to hide and escape, seeking out his friends and allies within the Institute and calling upon them to help him escape. Can he escape the bandits - and more, the guards that block his way?
After the announcement of the Institute that the researcher Toku has gone traitor, the young student Ashwin is sent to seek out and eliminate the rogue scholar, accompanied by the Institute guard commander, Captain Kestrel, and a small pack of elite guardsmen and mercenaries. The Institute refuses to tell him the reason for Toku's disappearance, only saying that he has stolen Institute property. Ashwin, taken in by the administrator Goethe as an orphan, believes steadfastly in the virtue and goodness of the Institute. But what will happen when he finds out what the Institute is trying to hide?
