Bizarre comparison. Well let's get down to it... neither is clearly way better than the other. The main category Boyd fits into is axe user... and there are better, generally anyone on a horse with an axe beats him. Mist fits generally into the healer category... and she's outclassed too, for the most part. She's useful as someone who can heal without promoting first, but after promoting she can't do nearly the amount of damage that a Sage/Arch Sage can do. And since she's relied on for early game healing, her effectiveness is reduced by the fact that in early game, vulneraries are still viable for healing purposes. She does have being mounted after promotion going for her, but it's not helping her terrible damage output. She's necessary to keep Ike alive in PoR during his fight with the black knight, but that's not adding all that much to her usefulness.

Overall, I think Boyd edges Mist out just a bit. Both are perfectly usable, neither is the best at what they do, but Boyd does what he does better than Mist.

I like using Mist but Boyd is both easier to use and more useful early on in the game
Though if you give mist some Armory scrolls for her swords Sonic/Runeswords give her a massive damage output boost in PoR
RD its Boyd all the way though, he gets a better weapon set,*crossbows ftw* and Mist's gets nerfed *Magic Swords use str wtf?*
Catman is officially cool now. Get wit it.

Boyd vs Mist is a very odd comparison. I like it.

Boyd massively outs Mist in terms of combat skill. But Mist is very useful in Mage-killing, and a versitile healer.

So a stat by stat comparison:

Boyd is the following:
Level 8
HP: 45/80% (Fantastic!)
Str: 22/65% (Amazing!)
Mag: 1/5% (Basically none, ever. Makes Imbue and Cards useless)
Skl: 20/45% (Decent)
Spd: 18/45% (Not bad)
Luck: 13/40% (Acceptable)
Defense: 15/50% (For a Warrior, that's good)
Res: 8/10% (Very bad)
Axe: A
No skills
Killer Axe, Steel Axe, Hand Axe (GREAT start)
Fire affinity

Mist:
Level 1
HP: 28/40% (For a healer, good. For a swordsman, bad)
Str: 8/25% (Requires special attention, a combination of babying, stat items, BEXP abuse, and maybe some lucky level ups, in order to be strong)
Mag: 13/45% (Makes her a very potent healer, and allows Cards to be VERY powerful. Unfortunately, classed as a magic user, so no Imbue)
Skl: 13/55% (Very good)
Spd: 15/50% (Also very good)
Luck: 16/70% (OH MY GOD)
Def: 7/25% (Averages 21.5 at 20/20. This is bad)
Res: 16/40% (This is not bad)
Sword: C, Staff: B
Miracle (one of the only units that makes use of it)
Florete, Heal, Vulenary (Florete is amazing)
Water affinity

So Statistically, Boyd has a bit more of an edge. And Boyd requires less attention, as he starts at 8/ instead of 1/
However, if you are to hone in on Mist, she does have a lot of potential, between being a healer with Canto (post-promotion), and her Water affinity definitely helps her compensate a bit for her low Str and Def.

Verdict: Boyd wins, but I really like Mist.

I really cant say anything that hasnt been said already. But i worked hard on training my Mist on PoR, she was pretty reliable on the last mission, in fact i had more issues with boyd-
Raw strenght in FE does not = usefulness(ALL the time). It means you'll kill every foe that heads your way, leaving an empty space for another one to hop in after, and so on until you get killed.

Heather loves the clit.

Sothe is required and Heather isn't, so all potential aside, unless you want two thieves running around in endgame, Heather pretty much gets benched. Sothe is a good solid unit that's worth using, since he's required all the time anyways, so Heather becomes a waste of time. You don't want two thieves in endgame.

That being said, statistically, I've always found Heather to turn out better than Sothe when I used both of them. I'll look up averages and bullshit and come to a full argument when I have more time, but I've gotta go study for finals.

pretty much what krevin said. The exception is that statistically Sothe generally turns out a little better damage-wise, but Heather easily holds her own and has perhaps a bit better ability at dodging. this is just off the top of my head so like krevin said, i dont have the statistics on hand to really make a conclusion, but there you go.

who do i like better? heather. by leaps and bounds. who is the "better" unit, with all practical things taken into consideration? sothe.

I think, it depends mainly on what you like. If you want a rogue who is going to do more damage, Soethe, he is the clear winner. For someone who is more versatile, faster and has a bit more stats that are utilized by Rogues, Heather wins. But since Soethe is mandatory for the story, being one of those main characters, he will have a lot more use. All that in mind, I think Soethe wins.

Heather may have lesbian love, but Sothe is all around better. He also gets his special class. He's one of the biggest badasses. Personally, I think a better match up would've been Sothe and Volke, but that's just me. *cough*Volke wins in that case.*cough*

Yeah Volke loses to both Sothe and Heather imo.

I mean like
Volke is cool and all
And if Sothe wasn't a required unit, like, it would be between Heather and Volke for who I take to endgame as a knife user
but he has almost no availability and comes at a time when you're getting a bunch of God units anyways, so he's really unnecessary.
Having an automatic OHKO move is cool and all but damn nigga. Part 4 exclusive = Bad.
