I'm "hosting" a smash for 3ds tournament(and maybe for wiiu, not sure atm). There will be prizes for first and second place. First place prize will be something up to $60 in value whereas second will be worth no more than $20. If you're uncomfortable with receiving a prize in the mail feel free to request the prize money in the form of a Amazon e-gift card.(just need an email address linked to an Amazon account). This is probably going to be round robin format unless quite a few people want in on it. I'll have some tournament rules(maps, items, customizations, custom movesets, etc.) up later, but for now if you want in post away.

suggestions for prizes are welcome. Pics, description, links, whatever you have go ahead and post it. I'm always open to ideas since I'm horribly uncreative.

I'm down.

Have you decided on a stage list yet? I think a good list is

Neutral:
-Battlefield
-Final Destination (/omegas)
-Dreamland 64
-Duck Hunt
-Yoshi's Island Brawl

Counterpick:
-Prism Tower
-Arena Ferox
-Tomodachi Life

I think those are the only stages that can be considered legal at all.
Having an odd number of neutral stages means that both players have equal number of stage bans, and having 5+ stages means that a true neutral stage will be found (Re: Brawl. Only neutral stages were Battlefield, Final Destination, and Smashville. Almost every set started on Smashville because one player wants to play FD and the other wants to play BF)
Having 7 or more total legal stages means you can have a stage ban in BO5.

I would, but I've played less and less smash over the years. If only I was as good as I used to be on Smash64. But as it stands, I'm just a filthy casual who doesn't give a crap about knowing combos.

Don't get me wrong, I love smash. I just don't have a competitive agenda.

This is going to be more of a casual tournament anyway. Most of the people I'm reaching out to aren't quite on the level of competing in "official" tournaments myself included. It's really more for fun than anything. The prize is just there to garner interest. I hadn't decided on a stage list yet, but that does look like a good way to go.

just to be clear absolutely no customizations including equipment and custom move sets will be allowed. That means mii fighters are out too(not that I would expect someone to want to pick them). Items are off of course as well. I don't really care whether we go with timed or stock, so I guess that's up to you guys.

lastly I opened the invitation to the feshrine forum as well(but only one person has shown any interest at all XD. There are a few people over there to watch out for btw krev. I don't know how good you are though so I can't really give an idea of what will happen.

Wouldn't the norm be 2 stock 6 min limit?

2 stock 6 minute is the standard, yes.

This is the full ruleset that Vegas Smash (and almost all other Smash communities) currently use for Wii U:

Only difference for the 3DS would be the stage list.

those rules look fine to me. i think it'd be easier just to say no mii fighters though because some people would have to edit or make a new one. either way everything else looks great. stage striking will have to be done another way obviously. i guess if it's a bracket style whoever is first in the bracket can pick first...if it's round robin i guess the players will have to work it out between themselves before the match.

The way it used to work in Brawl on the AiB WiFi ladder was that you would just message eachother about stage striking before you played.

Banning Miis on the 3DS makes sense. It removes complications at the cost of some characters that hardly anybody uses anyways.
I'm also biased towards this rule because the only viable Mii fighter is Brawler and his only good things are all shitty gimmicks that should have been patched out by now.

well unless we get some more interested people i'm gonna have to say no prizes. right now there's only 4 people for sure. that really doesn't make for much of a match. i'm trying to push that it's a "just for fun" tournament, but people still aren't all that interested in losing XD

honestly unless i can get at least 8 players there really won't be a competition worth having a prize imo.

this is still on for anyone interested. i'm not doing the prizes now since so few people wanted to play, but if you guys are still down drop your FC in a post and whatever you want your name to be entered as. i'm gonna get a google doc or something worked up so we can all register each other and have everything go smoothly when it starts. i might still have a small prize for first place tbh just because it won't feel like much of a tournament to me without some kind of reward at the end. anyway

I'll be down as soon as I find where I put my 3DS. It's... somewhere. I haven't unpacked since my last move and I'm already moving again in about a week and a half.

If you want to play you'll need to post your 3ds FC. Can't really play with people until they're registered.
